Movie Description

The Walt Disney Animated Classics series' ninth production was Fun and Fancy Free, released in 1947. The film consisted of two segments, Bongo, and Mickey and the Beanstalk. The latter is notable for being the final "appearance" of Walt Disney himself as the voice of Mickey Mouse.

Bongo, based on a story by Sinclair Lewis and narrated (in the original version) by Dinah Shore, features Disney icon Jiminy Cricket extolling the virtues of living a life that's "fun and fancy free" through the story of a circus bear named Bongo who escapes from the circus and learns life lessons from unexpected sources.

Mickey and the Beanstalk features several iconic Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Jiminy Cricket in a re-telling of the classic children's tale of "Jack and the Beanstalk." Narrated by famed ventriloquist Edgar Bergen with assistance from his "dummies" Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd, Mickey and the Beanstalk combines animation along with live-action.
