Adapted from Mark Peter Hughes' novel of the same title, Lemonade Mouth is a Disney Channel Original Movie which follows five teenagers who are thrown together in high-school detention. The teens go on to form a band as a way of dealing with the everyday high-school ups and downs. Lemonade Mouth is directed by Patricia Riggen (La Misma Luna, Revolución, Ansiedad) and stars Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Hayley Kiyoko, Naomi Scott and Blake Michael.
The band takes the name "Lemonade Mouth" as an homage to the school's lemonade machine which is scheduled to be removed, prompting student protests, of which the band is at the forefront.
The film's message is simple, but effective: With determination, confidence and hard work, obstacles can be overcome, and the results of sticking to your principles is eventually rewarded positively.
The film's soundtrack features original songs by the title band as well as Mudslide Crush, a rival band.
