Movie Description
With a cast of comedic veterans such as David Niven, Darren McGavin, Herschel Bernardi and Don Knotts, the 1976 Walt Disney production of No Deposit, No Return obviously comes under the heading of comedy. Another Disney reliable, Norman Tokar, directed this often hilarious comedic romp.
Two bratty spoiled rich kids, (Kim Richards, Brad Savage) decide to escape the tedious existence under the care of their stuffy grandfather (Niven), and decide they'd rather be with their jet-setting socialite mother (Barbara Feldon) in Hong Kong. To accomplish this, they brainstorm their own kidnapping. They enlist two semi-competent accomplices in petty thieves McGavin and Knotts to help them pull off the caper. Bernardi plays the police officer trying to hunt down the "victims."
No Deposit, No Return resembles some earlier Disney forays into comedic adventure, most notably The Boatniks (1970) and The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975), both of which, coincidentally, were also directed by Tokar.
