Oz: The Great and Powerful

As evidence that great cinema lives forever, Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful is a 3D fantasy adventure that takes viewers back to explore the origins of the iconic Wizard of Oz from the legendary 1939 film.
James Franco stars as Oscar Diggs, a small-time magician/con artist in Kansas who finds himself whisked away by a tornado to the magical Land of Oz. Once there, Oscar realizes that he has everything a semi-talented carny performer could possibly wish for. Hailed as a literal savior by the citizens, Oscar sets about establishing his new kingdom, but things change drastically when he is confronted by the three witches, who aren't as enthusiastic about his "Wizard-like" status as the others. The three agree to give him a chance however, and he finds himself thrust into finding solutions for the myriad of issues facing the Land of Oz.
Viewers familiar with the 1939 classic will be thrilled with the many references and "in-jokes" contained in the screenplay, and the well-known roles are excellently cast, especially Franco and the three witches, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Mila Kunis.
