Movie Description
Chris (Ron Howard), a fourteen-year-old farm youth, is mourning the loss of his father while upset about his mother's choice to remarry. When Chris finds a lost German shepherd, he keeps it a secret for fear that his stepfather Cal will take it away. Cal (Earl Holliman) desires nothing more than to have a loving and respectful relationship with his stepson. When Smoke's owner shows up, Chris is afraid of how Cal will react. In the end, Chris learns some real valuable life lessons.
